Have you visited The Queen Mary?
This luxury liner made it’s first transatlantic voyage in 1936.
During WWII, the ship took a break from luxury travel.
It was put into service transporting troops and eventually bringing war-brides home to the US after the war was over.
They then resumed the business of transporting customers in style.
The Queen Mary is now permanently docked in Long Beach Harbor.
Growing up in the area, I remember how exciting it was when they opened the ship for visitors.
My first time on The Queen was way back in the 1970’s, shortly after it opened.
I’ve visited many times over the years for fun, special events and even a wedding.
On this ship you’ll find a whole lot of history and it’s fun to explore.
There are modern conveniences, but much of it has been restored and lovingly maintained.
Art Deco was the style of the day and you’ll see beautiful examples of it throughout the ship – woodwork, trim, light fixtures, carpet etc.
There is a museum with historical artifacts from the British royal family, including a tribute to Princess Diana.
You can check out the bridge, the Captain’s quarters, ballrooms, and more.
There are rumors that the Queen Mary is haunted, but I didn’t run into any ghosts when I was there!
