Hotel Carmel is a new addition to the picturesque California Town of Carmel by the Sea. I’ve walked by it many times when it was formerly known as The Dolphin Inn. It has now been transformed and refurbished as a new boutique hotel.
The hotel has some European styling with a California twist. It is a perfect addition to this quaint town that I enjoy visiting regularly. The rooms are comfortable and the outdoor patio area and lobby are beautiful spaces for guests enjoy. You can enjoy the common areas on your own or socialize with other guests, if you’d like.
There are 27 rooms and suites. I had a spacious upper level king on the 2nd floor. There was plenty of room to spread out and get comfortable. There were chairs and a table inside and also on the balcony just outside the front door. I always love to sit outside and enjoy the view. If you are not a fan of stairs, there are ramps throughout the property. Some may wish to request a room closest to a ramp. I was happy to use the stairs at every opportunity to work off a bit of all that delicious Carmel food and wine I consumed.
The lobby is set up with comfortable seating areas, music and reading material. Complimentary wifi was strong in the common areas and in my room. In addition to serving up complimentary breakfast in the morning, they also host a wine hour each evening.
The outdoor courtyard area may have been my favorite space. During the day, there are umbrellas for shade. At night, the lights are turned on and a fireplace and fire pit are lit for warmth and ambiance. It was great to relax in the nearby jacuzzi and then sit by the fire for a bit before heading in for the night.
Every staff member I met was friendly and helpful. This is a hotel, but I really felt at home from the moment I checked into Hotel Carmel.
