There are two resorts with very similar names in town, and they offer completely different experiences.

This post is specifically about Spring House Resort, which is tucked away at 68055 Club Circle Drive, Desert Hot Springs, CA.

When you are navigating, be sure you aren’t heading to The Spring Resort & Spa on Reposo Way.

While that is also a lovely spot, it isn’t the property I’m sharing today!

Checking the address in your GPS is the best way to ensure you arrive at the correct destination. 🗺️

🏨 A Modern Chapter for a Vintage Property

If you love “vintage Desert Hot Springs” style, you will appreciate the bones of this property.

It sat vacant for quite a few years, but it has recently been taken over by a new owner who has given it a quick remodel and opened its doors under the Spring House Resort name.

When I visited during the last week of April, here is what I found on the ground:

The Signage: The address is clearly visible on the building so you know you’re in the right place, but there isn’t a “Spring House Resort” sign out front yet. Look for the numbers! 🔢
The Renovation: The resort is officially open and rooms are available to book, but keep in mind that renovations are still underway in various parts of the property. 🛠️
The Vibe: It has that classic desert layout—rooms surrounding the central pool area—which makes for a very communal and relaxing atmosphere.

Whether you are a longtime fan of the Greater Palm Springs area or this is your first time soaking in the mineral water, knowing exactly where you are staying is the first step to a stress-free trip.

If you are looking for the high-energy nightlife of Palm Springs or the luxury shopping of El Paseo in Palm Desert, you won’t find them right outside your door here.

And honestly?

That is exactly why I love it.

Desert Hot Springs is a community that moves at its own speed: slow, peaceful, and perfectly relaxing. 🌵

While the fine dining and art galleries of the neighboring desert cities are just a short 15 to 20-minute drive away, a vacation in Desert Hot Springs is all about leaning into the quiet.

It’s about sunshine, starry skies, and the stillness of the desert. 🌌

💧 World-Class Mineral Waters

The real star of the show here is the water.

Desert Hot Springs sits atop a natural aquifer of geothermal mineral water that bubbles up from the earth.

Unlike many other hot springs, the water here is odorless (no sulfur smell!) and incredibly silky. 🧖‍♀️

Soaking in these mineral pools is a transformative experience.

The water is rich in minerals like silica, magnesium, and calcium, which are known to soothe the skin and melt away muscle tension.

Dining: If you are craving a standout fine dining experience, it is very easy to head into Palm Springs or Palm Desert for the evening before retreating back to the quiet of DHS. 🍽️
Budget: One of the biggest perks of staying here is the value. Lodging in Desert Hot Springs can be significantly lower priced than in the more “touristy” hubs, allowing you to enjoy a longer stay or a more spacious suite without the hefty price tag. 💰

Whether you are here for a solo retreat or a quick weekend getaway, the “DHS vibe” is all about recharging your batteries in a natural way.

When you arrive with the intention to simply be, the desert has a way of taking care of the rest. ☀️

🏠 The “Spa-tel” Layout: Privacy and Charm

There is something so quintessentially “desert” about the layout of Spring House Resort.

It is a smaller, intimate property with about 15 rooms total (including one for the on-site management).

The rooms are arranged around the perimeter of a rectangular lot, all opening inward toward the central pool and common areas. 🏨

I absolutely love this “Spa-tel” (Spa Hotel) style because it feels incredibly private.

Since there is only one main door to enter the property and a small reception area, no one driving by can see into the pool area.

It’s a hidden oasis where you can let your guard down.

I checked in for a few days and didn’t feel the need to leave once, which was the restful escape I was looking for! 🌴

🎨 Aesthetic & Vibe

The style here is just plain fun!

Think cute desert chic with crisp white buildings and bright turquoise accents.

It feels very “vacationy” and inviting, providing that cheerful pop of color against the desert landscape. ☀️

⚠️ Setting Realistic Expectations: Amenities Update

This is where the “expectations vs. reality” part comes in.

While the property is lovely, it is very much a work in progress.

When you are planning your stay, please keep the following in mind based on my visit during the last week of April:

The Communal Kitchen: The website currently lists a stylish communal kitchen for guest use. It does not currently exist. I was told it is under construction and the final plans for that space are still up in the air. Don’t plan on using a shared kitchen or the seating area shown in those specific website photos! 🚫🍳
Outdoor Furniture: While the website shows tables with umbrellas and cushioned chairs, those are not there. As of April 30th, the outdoor seating consisted of Adirondack chairs and a few loungers. 🪑
Pool Access: On the plus side, because the property is small, every single room has incredibly easy access to the mineral pools and outdoor spaces. You are never more than a few steps away from a soak! 💧

If you go into your stay knowing that the property is still “finding its feet” regarding the common area furniture and extra amenities, you can focus on what is actually there: a quiet, cute, and very private place to relax. 🧘‍♀️

🛌 Room Tour: The Executive Kitchen Mineral Pool Suite (Room 13)

I stayed in Room 13, which is categorized as an Executive Kitchen Mineral Pool Suite.

While the overall vibe (orange bedding, turquoise accents, and mid-century styling) matched the “look” of the online photos, the actual layout and furniture were quite different.

It was a good-sized, comfortable room, but definitely not an exact match for the booking portal images! 📸

🍳 The Kitchen & Dining Situation

The kitchen was a bit of a mixed bag.

In some ways, it was better than expected; for instance, it features a full-sized refrigerator with a freezer, not just a tiny dorm fridge.

This was great for keeping my local market finds fresh! 🍎

However, there were a few “reality vs. website” discrepancies to note:

No Microwave: Despite being explicitly mentioned in the description and shown in photos, there was no microwave. This was a bit of a hurdle for the groceries I brought along! 🍿
The Stove: Instead of a full stove, there is a two-burner plug-in cooktop. It’s functional for light meals, but not quite what I’d call a “full kitchen.” 🍳
Capacity: The room is advertised as sleeping three. However, there is only one King bed and no sofa or extra sleeping surface. While the room is spacious enough for a pull-out sofa, as of late April, it only truly sleeps two. 🛏️

📶 Connectivity & Tech (The Digital Detox)

If you are planning to work from your room, you may want to rethink that plan!

The Wi-Fi was very spotty; I could only catch a signal if I moved a chair and sat directly by the front door.

Because the Wi-Fi was unreliable, the Smart TV was essentially unusable during my stay. 📺

Additionally, cell service (Verizon) was quite weak—usually just one bar.

It worked for basic texts, but not for data-heavy apps.

Consider this a great opportunity for a digital detox! 📵

🚿 Bathroom & Private Mineral Pool

The bathroom was clean and functional, though it featured one sink instead of the two shown in photos, and a walk-in tiled shower rather than a tub/shower combo.

The suite also includes a private backyard with a mineral pool.

To be honest, this area is still very much under renovation.

During my visit, the backyard lacked furniture, the pool was quite dirty, and the concrete was rough enough that I’d recommend water shoes if you want to try going into the pool.

Plus, the water was scalding hot! 🔥

The Bottom Line: Even though the private pool wasn’t usable and the amenities didn’t quite match the “aspirational” online photos, I actually enjoyed having the private outdoor space.

If the description had been accurate from the start, I would have been perfectly happy!

The bed was new and comfortable, the shower was great, and for the price, it was still a solid choice.

I’d definitely consider staying in this room again now that I know exactly what to bring! 🧤

💦 A Triple-Treat of Mineral Pools

One of the biggest perks of Spring House Resort is the variety of soaking options.

For a property with only about 15 rooms, having three separate mineral pools is a huge luxury!

Since I visited mid-week and the resort wasn’t fully booked, I often had these beautiful spaces all to myself.

It felt like my own private estate! 🌴

The Large Outdoor Pool: This pool gets to about 5 feet deep and is perfect for a refreshing dip. While it isn’t heated, it felt absolutely wonderful under the desert sun. It’s the ideal spot to cool off after lounging in the heat. 🏊‍♀️
The Shaded Soaking Pool: This shallower outdoor pool features a cool shade structure that lets in filtered light. I can imagine this being a total lifesaver during a summer heatwave, since you get to soak in the mineral water without the direct intensity of the sun. ⛱️
The Indoor Mineral Spa: This was a highlight for me! It is a hot mineral pool (though not scalding) housed in a room with floor-to-ceiling windows. I loved being able to look out at the main pool area and gaze up at the night sky while soaking in the warmth. ✨

🌙 24-Hour Access & The Sauna

One of my favorite things about the stay was that all mineral pools are open 24 hours.

There is nothing quite like a late-night or early-morning soak at whatever odd hour you choose!

Even with the 24-hour access, I didn’t experience any noise issues from other guests – everyone seemed to respect the peaceful, relaxing vibe of the property.

Regarding the Sauna: much like the rest of the property, it isn’t “as pictured” as of April 2026.

More renovations are planned to upgrade this space and potentially add back some of the other spa features that existed here decades ago. 🧖‍♀️

☀️ Indoor-Outdoor Living

Having all the pools and various outdoor relaxation spots just steps from my door was incredibly convenient.

I found myself drifting in and out of the water throughout my stay, alternating between soaking and just sitting outdoors to enjoy the fresh desert air.

Whether it was under the bright daytime sun or the vast, starry night sky, the outdoor space is where the resort truly shines. 🏜️

✅ Why Spring House Resort Was the Right Choice for Me

At the end of the day, despite the discrepancies between the website and reality, this stay was exactly the kind of getaway I was looking for.

It provided a quiet, peaceful escape where I could lean into the relaxation of the desert. 🌵

Solo Safety & Service: As a solo traveler, safety is always top of mind. The on-site managers were incredibly kind and professional, and I felt totally secure on the property throughout my stay. 🛡️
The “Stay-Put” Factor: I loved the ability to check in and simply be. I spent several days without ever leaving the property, rotating between my books and the mineral pools. 📖
Budget-Friendly Vibes: The price point for an “Executive” space was excellent, and having the full-sized fridge allowed me to bring my own food and eat on my own schedule. 🥗
Mid-Century Charm: Even with renovations ongoing, the cute mid-century aesthetic and turquoise accents make for a very cheerful and “vacationy” environment.

🚗 Location & Beyond

One of the best parts about Desert Hot Springs is its proximity. It’s an incredibly easy drive from Orange County or Los Angeles, and an even quicker trip if you are coming from Riverside or San Bernardino. 🛣️

While I spent most of my time on-site, I did decide to enjoy a treat on the way out!

I stopped for a fantastic meal at Porta Via in Palm Desert before heading home.

That is the beauty of this location—you can hide away in the quiet of DHS, but you are only a short drive from the high-end dining and nightlife of the rest of the Coachella Valley. 🍽️✨

✨ Final Thoughts

Would I stay here again?

Absolutely.

Now that I have a realistic handle on what to expect (and I know to leave the microwaveable popcorn at home!), I would happily return for the 24-hour pool access and the vintage charm.

If you are looking for a more polished resort experience, you might want to wait until the renovations are fully complete.

But if you want a quiet, affordable, and safe mineral spring escape right now, Spring House Resort is a lovely choice. ☀️
