Quick Summary: Planning a trip to California’s Central Coast? Read my full review of the newly renovated Courtyard by Marriott San Luis Obispo. From its prime central location for exploring Morro Bay, Avila Beach, and Edna Valley to spacious rooms, a heated outdoor pool, and more, here is what to expect during your stay.

When planning a road trip around California’s Central Coast, having a comfortable, quiet, and well-located hotel to return to each evening makes all the difference.

During my recent autumn trip, I stayed at the Courtyard by Marriott San Luis Obispo, located at 1605 Calle Joaquin Road.

As a newly renovated property, it offered a clean, modern, and reliable base for all my fall activities.

Because it is a Marriott property, you can count on standard brand quality, clean design, and a straightforward booking process.

If you visit often, using a Marriott Bonvoy account makes tracking stays and earning reward perks super easy!

📍 Ideal Central Location for Central Coast Sightseeing

Without a doubt, the standout highlight of staying at this hotel was its convenient, central location.

Tucked just off the freeway in San Luis Obispo, it sits right at the hub of everything the region has to offer:

  • Downtown SLO & Cal Poly: Just a quick drive to local restaurants, historic sites, and campus events.
  • Coastal Towns: Easy, short drives out to Avila Beach, Pismo Beach, and Morro Bay.
  • Wine Country: Approximately 10 minutes from the scenic vineyards of the Edna Valley.
  • Airport Access: Minutes from San Luis Obispo County Regional Airport (SBP) if you are flying in rather than driving.

Nothing on my itinerary felt like a long drive, allowing me to pack a lot of fun into my visit without spending endless hours behind the wheel.

🧳 Fuel Up and Go SLO Travel Package

During my stay, I tried out the hotel’s special Fuel Up and Go SLO travel package, which included several fantastic local perks.

My favorite part of the package was a wine tasting flight at Claiborne & Churchill Winery in the Edna Valley!

The package also featured a $50 gas gift card along with promotional offers for local partners like Shuck Shack, Arnie’s ATV Rentals, and Avila Beach Paddlesports.

🛏️ Room 220 Review: 1 King + Sofa Bed

I stayed in Room 220, a spacious layout featuring one king bed and a sofa bed. The room was clean, quiet, and well-maintained.

Key in-room features included:

  • Comfortable Bed & Blackout Curtains: The mattress and pillows were very comfortable, and the blackout curtains did an incredible job keeping the room dark – I slept great both nights!
  • In-Room Appliances: A mini fridge and microwave, which made keeping leftovers and snacks handy super convenient.
  • Bathroom Setup: Clean bathroom with a full shower and tub combination.
  • Fast Wi-Fi: The in-room Wi-Fi was fast, stable, and reliable for work and browsing.

Note on Housekeeping: Daily housekeeping is currently available by request only, so be sure to let the front desk staff know at check-in if you prefer daily room service.

🏊 Outdoor Heated Pool, Hot Tub & Property Amenities

The hotel amenities were clean and well-kept.

I took full advantage of the outdoor heated pool and hot tub, using both multiple times during my stay!

The surrounding outdoor spaces offer plenty of comfortable outdoor seating, making it a lovely to sit back and enjoy the sunny autumn weather.

Additional property amenities include:

  • Fitness Rooms: Two small exercise rooms equipped with basic cardio machines and weights.
  • Guest Laundry: On-site self-serve laundry facilities.
  • On-Site Bistro: Located in the lobby, offering breakfast options, evening drinks, and dinner (select packages include breakfast vouchers).
  • Parking: On-site self-parking is available for an additional daily charge.

The overall property had a peaceful, quiet vibe with a nice mix of business and leisure travelers.

It was a wonderful, safe, and comfortable place to recharge after busy days of exploring the Central Coast!
