Fairmont Hotels and Resorts have a reputation for luxury and elegance. The Newport Beach location in Orange County, California represents the brand well!
When visiting Fairmont Newport Beach, you can simply stay there and enjoy all of the resort amenities or you can use it as a hub for all that Southern California has to offer – the beach, Disney, Knott’s, Legoland, shopping, dining, galleries and museums and other activities. It’s near John Wayne Airport for those coming from out of the area. The hotel attracts a combination of business travelers, vacationers and staycationers.
The rooftop pool area is absolutely beautiful. Around the pool and spa are lounge chairs, seating areas, cabanas and palm trees. The cabanas are complimentary with no reservations needed from October to May. Sunset views are stunning from the pool.
The health club overlooks the pool area and is open 24/7. Yoga classes are complementary. Towels, water and other workout supplies are available. They also have tennis courts. Equipment is available for those who didn’t pack their own.
The entire hotel is spacious and elegant. It’s been designed with comfort in mind. Ceilings are high, Corridors are wide and well lit. There are plenty of places to sit and work, talk or enjoy some solitude throughout the common areas. I had great experiences in both Citrus Restaurant and Avo Bar + Restaurant that are on the main floor of the hotel.
On this visit to the Fairmont, I stayed in a Junior Suite (8th floor, room 819). The suites are a comfortable 488 square feet with high ceilings that make them feel even larger. My corner room had beautiful views to the east towards Saddleback Mountain and to the west for sunset.
The large marble bathroom has a deep tub, oversized shower, dual sinks and a seating area. Rose 31 bath products and robes are provided. The pillow top mattress and Egyptian cotton linens led to a relaxing and deep sleep.
There is plenty of space to relax or get some work done. There is a work desk and lounge chair. Internet was speedy.
The private balcony was large and has a table for two. It was a great spot to watch the sun go down, eat a meal or read. I liked keeping the sliding glass door open to let the fresh California air in.
